As a teenager, I really got into Tolkien's books - the world building, the linguistics, the geography and lore... These fictional places and people had so many layers to them that it felt like I was having a conversation with them on each page. Even as Sophie started to grow up, I longed for her to feel emersed in the same world - the elves, the hobbits, the adventures and the mythology... I started our morning ritual of reading Tolkien's work to her with some morning tea and toast before starting our day. It's one of the greatest ways to spark her imagination and we have conversations afterwards on the way to school about the book and adventures you can have in real life... I hope this is something she'll continue with her kids.
